Dean & Cathleen Smith

Cathleen and Dean are from Hansville and discovered KCYC while in the ferry line. They have just purchased a Macgregor 26" sailboat, have been sailing for 15 years and enjoyed sailing the most in Hawaii! Dean is retired Navy as a federal manager and Cathleen as a now retired financial counselor. They look forward to being more active in the community, learn about local sailing conditions, and participating in the club activities and cruises. They spend their free time, besides boating, on grandkids, native plants and local trail hikes. The two are active in the community with engagement in the General Federation of Women's Clubs-Kitsap Peninsula chapter, the Navy League and the Central Kitsap Sailing Foundation.

Laura Shabe
Laura moved to Seattle from New York two years ago for work as a transportation planner for a large engineering firm that specializes in rail and transit planning.  Her free time was spent exploring Kitsap County and has just moved to Bainbridge Island and is happy to have better saltwater access and to find community.  Kayaking for over 10 years, she has kayaked from Whidbey Island to Langley and to Coupeville.  In Seattle, kayaking time was spent on Lake Washington and crossing Portage Bay to a beach in Medina.  Other interests include gardening, landscape photography, baking, cooking, hiking and cross country skiing and speaking German.  She is super friendly, likes to cook,  and moved a lot for work in the past but hopes at last to have found a place in the world. 

Neil and Karen Parker
Neal and Karen moved to Edmonds about 3 years ago and found Kingston 3 days after the move.  Neil is in Construction management and Karen, a Dental Hygienist and Myofunctional Therapist.  They own a Beneteau 393 and have boated for about 40 years and still learn something new every time we go out.  Along with their love of sailing, they enjoy cycling, good music, good food, good wine, good company and, of course, their grandchildren. Having heard of KCYC from the sailing community, they would like to get to know and become social with like-minded people.   

Kirsten and John Jewell
The Jewells live in Indianola and have been long-time residents of the area.  Having been aware of the club for many years, they would like to make new friends, meet those that enjoy boating in the Puget Sound, and have some fun!  They bought a Tartan 30' last year and have a slip on the C dock. They spent the last 2 years sailing around the Sound favoring the Langley and Orcas Island destinations. They enjoy hiking, playing games, sailing and spending time with their teen-age daughters.  Kristen is on the Board of Kingston Cares and several other non-profits over the years.  Kirsten works in Human Services for the County Government and John owns a General Contracting company.  They are excited to become a part of the club and look forward to meeting everyone.
