Dear Members,
We’re excited to share some important updates about volunteering at Kingston Cove Yacht Club.
Our club thrives because of the dedication and participation of our members. Volunteering not only helps keep our dues affordable but also builds friendships and a sense of ownership in our community.
What’s Changing?
- Starting January 2026, we’re moving from the “honor system” to a tracked system for volunteer hours.
- Each member is still expected to contribute 12 volunteer hours per year—this requirement hasn’t changed, only the way we record it.
- The goal is to ensure fairness and recognize everyone’s contributions.
How Will It Work?
- Continue signing up for volunteer opportunities on our website.
- After each event, the host will review and confirm hours, which will then be recorded.
- The board will periodically review reports and reach out to members who may be falling behind.
- We’re also adding a new “HOST” category to recognize event hosts, as well several new volunteering positions.
Membership Options
- You can choose the membership level that fits your needs:
- Active Volunteering Member: Complete your 12-hour commitment (per member, not per family) and keep your current dues.
- Non-Volunteering Member: Support the club financially instead of volunteering—contact the Membership Chair to transition.
Next Steps
- Log into the website to ensure you have access.
- Check the calendar for upcoming volunteer opportunities.
- Please note that not all volunteer opportunities are linked to a calendar event! Go to the website tab "Events/Activities" -> "Volunteering" to view all the opportunities. We are continuing to add new opportunities, so check often!
Thank you for your continued support and commitment to making our club a vibrant community!
