In 1968 a group of 40 friends in the Kingston area came together to found the Kingston Cove Yacht Club to enhance the camaraderie and fellowship among their boating friends. Those 40 charter members put their collective shoulders to the wheel and today, over 50 years later, we have a growing membership of about 150 people. Although we are an active boating club, we have expanded our focus to include clubhouse based social activities and community service. You don’t need a boat to join!
The yacht club is about having fun and it relies very heavily on its member volunteers to plan and staff the cruises, parties, barbecues, and other events.
The club is open every Friday night for club members to socialize with old friends and meet new ones. We cruise 10-12 weekends per year to locations ilike Victoria BC, Seattle, Bell Harbor, Pleasant Harbor, the San Juans and many more. We have a major clubhouse event approximately once per month including Kingston Opening Day of Boating, Commodore’s Ball, Ladies Tea, New Year’s Eve, St. Patty's Day, Christmas Tree Lighting and July 4th Celebration.
The yacht club is also about community service and leadership. We actively support the Kingston Food Bank, Kingston 4th of July, Kingston Cares Community Meals and Kingston Clean-up. In addition, many of our members are community leaders outside the yacht club giving of their time and treasure.
The KCYC clubhouse is located at the Port of Kingston. The clubhouse overlooks the Port of Kingston Marina and Park with a beautiful view of Puget Sound from Edmonds to Seattle including Mt. Rainier. We have an approved kitchen, a full bar, dance floor, dinner seating along with a scenic deck and large outdoor gas barbecue. The club is available for rent by the public and members at a special rate.
KCYC offers reciprocal boaters space at the Port of Kingston Marina Guest Dock for reciprocal moorage and we have agreements with virtually all local and many international yacht clubs for reciprocal moorage privileges. A listing of these reciprocal clubs is available on this web site. Reciprocal club members are very welcome to join us at our weekly social on Friday evenings from 6 to 9pm.
